HORST UNTERLECHNER

Horst Unterlechner is the Managing Director of iBert (PTY) Ltd. based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

As a qualified engineer and architect, he has worked in the cold storage and food processing industry for 30 years and has travelled across the continents from Russia to the United States. He is experienced in food processing engineering and waste treatment plants and for the last 12 years has focused on the biogas industry. He specializes in small scale biogas plants, including second generation biochemistry technology utilizing rumens and cellulose to produce bio-methane. Horst has built, designed and manufactured more than 170 biogas plants in Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, UK and Africa and played a key role in the standardization and commercialization of the RaCBio technology.

Horst is an international leader in feedstock production, preparation and processing and has presented numerous talks on the subject.

Horst obtained a Bachelor of Science Structural Engineering (architecture) degree at Innsbruck University in Austria.

He is an accomplished snow skier and qualified ski instructor who was part of the Young Austria National ski team and also enjoys cycling and golf.
